Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup Nets Over 800 Lbs. of Trash and Waste

The City of Palm Coast’s Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup was a huge success this past weekend, drawing over 250 participants at the annual event - which aims to reduce the amount of waste along the waterway and throughout other areas of the city.

Volunteers of all ages started their day at the Palm Coast Community Center before making their way to the intracoastal near Waterfront Park, where they were able to gather over 800 lbs. of waste in all.

“To see the number of volunteers we had this year is tremendously encouraging and seeing the level commitment by residents of all generations to keeping our city clean is something that is truly inspiring every time we do this event,” said Solid Waste Collections Supervisor Alyssa Roscoe. “We would ideally like our city to be clean enough to where we don’t need to do this event, but at the same time, we hope that events like these help create awareness, and help spark the idea of not littering, and helping to keep Palm Coast clean by taking preventive measures.”
