The City of Palm Coast recently completed work on its newest field light project, which is funded in part by the Flagler County Tourism Development Office. The City received a grant of $357,247 (50%) for the $714,494 project, as part of the TDC’s capital funding project grant, awarded by the Flagler County commission earlier this year on May 18.

The project sees the addition of 10 new lights in total, which are located on Multipurpose fields 6-8 at the Indian Trails sports complex. This project comes on the heels of new traffic safety enhancements, and the addition of a new parking lot/drop-off loop at the facility.

“For years, the Indian Trails Sports Complex has been a destination for sports teams from near and far, and we’ve had the pleasure of hosting thousands of games on these fields since its inception” said Parks and Recreation Director James Hirst. “With fields 1-5 already being lit, these new lights open up a number of possibilities for evening and nighttime play year-round on all of our multipurpose fields, which we know has been in demand for some time.”

The 164-acre facility annually hosts several local sports leagues, including Palm Coast Little League, multiple soccer leagues, tournaments and the most recent new addition, the Palm Coast Big Buoys baseball team, who just completed their inaugural season.
