City Manager Department
Under executive direction, is responsible for managing and coordinating complex administrative projects or activities that require a high degree of specialized knowledge. Conducts research, provides data, makes recommendations, and implements solutions to achieve project goals and objectives. For specific projects, may exercise supervision over consultants, vendors, and assigned staff.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university supplemented by five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in grant administration, planning, business, or finance within a similar public organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Construction Management & Engineering Department
The position will be under management direction and primarily concentrate on providing engineering and project management support for utility infrastructure and utility capital improvement projects, provide engineering assistance to utility operations staff and perform engineering analysis. Employees in this classification perform at a professional level and are accountable for planning, development, and management of projects in compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations according to all acceptable engineering practices. Employee works with a high degree of independence and initiative. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Florida Driver's License.
Utility Engineer I
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field is required; possess or ability to obtain Florida Board of Professional Engineer's (PE) license within 6 months of employment; Two (2) years responsible technical experience in engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Utility Engineer II
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field is required; Florida Board of Professional Engineer's (PE) license; Five (5) years responsible technical experience in engineering; Maintenance of Traffic certification; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The Construction Management & Engineering Division is seeking an Engineer to perform professional engineering services to plan, coordinate, and implement private and public project development of the city's capital improvement projects and operational oversight for the city's transportation system. The ideal candidate will work well across department and division lines and with consultants and contractors. They will need to be able to multi-task and work well in a team-oriented environment. The preferred candidate will have design and/or project management experience in FDOT specifications and roadway design. Must possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field; supplemented by ten (10) years highly responsible technical experience in transportation/roadway engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in any State of the United States with the ability to obtain registration in the State of Florida within one (1) year of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Financial Services Department
Under general direction from the Chief Accountant, the purpose of the job is to perform moderately complex accounting work according to generally accepted standard accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work. Employees in this job classification function at journey professional level to accomplish assigned functions according to established schedules, calendars, projects, and programs of the department. Work includes researching and collecting data, preparing clear and concise financial reports, and monitoring expenditures and revenues of assigned divisions and/or departments. Performs related work as directed.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the field, or combination of education and experience. Local government experience preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Identification Card.

Parks and Recreation Department
Under supervisor and manager direction, the purpose of the position is to provide swimming and safety instruction to ensure the safety of patrons at the City's public swimming facility. Employees in this classification are responsible for monitoring various swimming activities, maintain pool chemicals, as well as assisting with special functions. Employee assists in maintaining pool and surrounding facility area. Objective is to ensure safety and general welfare of the general public engaging in all swimming activities through guarding and instructing patrons. Oversees the hiring, training, and certifications of all staff at the facility.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years lifeguard experience, 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, and a demonstrated ability to perform the administrative support and coordinating requirements of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Must possess and maintain current American Red Cross or nationally recognized lifeguard certification, CPR, and First Aid Certifications. AED for the professional and Water Safety Instructor Certifications are Preferred. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age upon hire.
City of Palm is offering In-house training and certification to include certification in; CPR, First Aid, AED and Lifeguard Certification. Training will take place sometime in March and April, dates to follow. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, and 40 seconds.
Public Works Department
Our Public Works Department, Fleet division currently has an opening. Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as a Mechanic I, II or III.
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of gasoline or diesel driven motors and related auto equipment, landscaping equipment, machinery, and tools. Employee performs complex work with independence, and more difficult work under guidance and supervision of the Mechanic Lead.
A High School Diploma or GED and a valid Florida Driver's License required.
Mechanic I
Two (2) years responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment/machinery maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Two (2) certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium and heavy truck certification test series from the following categories: Brakes, Suspension, Electronics, Air Conditioning-Heat & Ventilation, and Preventive Maintenance preferred.
Mechanic II
Must possess and maintain a Class "B" Florida Commercial Driver's License. Must poses and maintain at least two (2) certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium and heavy truck certification test series, which includes the following categories: Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electronics, Air Conditioning-Heat & Ventilation, Preventive maintenance, Drive train, Diesel Engines and Gasoline engines as well as administratively approved Emergency Vehicle Technician certification(s).
Mechanic III
Must possess and maintain a Class "A" Florida Commercial Driver's License. Must poses and maintain at least four (4) certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium and heavy truck certification test series, which includes the following categories: Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electronics, Air Conditioning-Heat & Ventilation, Preventive maintenance, Drive train, Diesel Engines and Gasoline engines as well as administratively approved Emergency Vehicle Technician certification(s).
Our Public Works Department is currently seeking a Maintenance Worker, EOI or EOII to join their team. Daily work activities will include, mowing, weeding, landscaping and removal of trash and debris. Applicants must have the ability to perform labor-intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing of 50 lbs. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED and must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Maintenance Worker - Must possess a minimum of (2) years' experience in grounds keeping and/or general maintenance.
Equipment Operator I - Must possess a minimum of (2) years' experience in grounds keeping and/or general maintenance and operates light to heavy equipment. Must possess a Class "B" CDL license.
Equipment Operator II - Must possess (3) years of light and heavy equipment operating experience including but not limited to operation of backhoe, front end loader, excavator, skid steer, gradall, etc. Must possess a Class "A" CDL license.
City of Palm Coast Public Works Department is seeking temporary worker's to join their team! Daily work activities will include, mowing, weed-wacking, and removal of trash and debris. Staff can expect to be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous wildlife, and difficult environmental conditions on a regular basis. Preferred candidates will possess verifiable experience in mowing and general landscaping. Duration of assignment expected, two weeks up to six months of employment with a potential of possibly being employed full-time in the future. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED.

Stormwater Department
This position will join the Stormwater Maintenance division as a member of a swale, ditch, canal, or pipe maintenance crew. Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as MW, E0I or E0II. All positions perform work related duties to include the installation, maintenance, and repair of the city stormwater system. Daily work activities will include manual labor and equipment operation directed towards swale, pipe, ditch, and canal maintenance projects. Preferred candidates will possess verifiable experience in general maintenance work and heavy equipment operation. Possession of a current Class A or Class B CDL is a definite plus. Duration of assignment is variable but staff in this position will have the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques as they relate to the maintenance of our city stormwater system while also being provided an opportunity for hands-on, real world evaluation towards potential full-time status as those openings arise. This position is perfect for those who would like more exposure to city maintenance operations and to gain more relevant work experience. Utility - Distribution Department
City of Palm Coast Utility Department, Water Division is seeking a Utility System Technician I or II to join their team. Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of routine labor-intensive work in the installation, maintenance and repair of City water and sewer systems. All positions require a High School Diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license.
Utility System Technician I
Employees in this classification function at entry level. Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and more difficult work is performed under direct supervision. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the city. Must have one (1) year experience in public utilities or other large-scale commercial plumbing systems and be able to obtain a Class B CDL license with tanker endorsement within six months of employment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. General construction experience may be considered.
Utility System Technician II
Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for operating, maintaining, and performing minor repairs on utility vehicles and equipment. Position is distinguished from that of the Utility Systems Technician I, by the level of independence the employee functions in, as a result of the advanced laboring knowledge acquired through training and work experience. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transportation of water throughout the city. Must have (2) years' experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, and basic electrical knowledge. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "B" CDL and must be able to obtain tanker endorsement within six months of employment. Must possess and maintain an FDEP Level 3 License in Water Distribution.
Utility - Water Treatment Plant #2 Department
Our Utility Department, Water division is currently seeking a new employee to join their team! Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as a Utility Systems Mechanical Technician I or II. Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of moderately complex pump-mechanical and electrical trades work in the maintenance and repair of utilities treatment plants, equipment, peripheral components, and collection systems. All positions require a High School diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license.
Mechanical Technician I
Position will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes and various rotating equipment of all sizes and types; with proper equipment, must be able to test motors for continuity. Must have one (1) year responsible experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial pumping systems, motors and electrical equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. FLDEP Level 3 Water Distribution Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Mechanical Technician II
Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing a wide variety of machinery and mechanical equipment, e.g., engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, and various rotating equipment. Objective is to maintain wastewater system, pump stations, and treatment plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient utility operations. Must have two (2) years' experience in public utilities or other large-scale commercial pumping systems, motors and electrical equipment, and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain an FLDEP Level 3 Water Distribution Certification.
