The City of Palm Coast and AdventHealth’s 15th Annual Pink Army 5K painted the streets of Town Center Pink this past Sunday, marking a record-setting 950 participants and an estimated 1300 attendees, who literally wore their support on their sleeves along the start/finish line at AdventHealth Palm Coast near Hwy 100.

Although it’s billed as a 5K, the event consistently amasses a number of community supporters and has a significantly personal feel to it, as a number of participants or their family and friends have been personally impacted by breast cancer. As in previous years, dogs were even able to get in on the act with the 1-mile Pet-Friendly Fun Walk sponsored by Flagler County Humane Society.

This year saw supporters raise $37,000, including over $3,500 in donations, which will be used towards breast cancer screenings, cancer-related education, materials and diagnostic testing in Flagler County. Since the event’s inception in 2010, funds raised have served 564 patients and covered the cost of 918 procedures related to breast cancer screenings and diagnostics to date.
