The City of Palm Coast is looking for a meticulous and technically skilled Computer Programmer to develop and maintain our organization's systems software and computing infrastructure. The Computer Programmer's duties will focus on the creation, maintenance and support of a native mobile application. Duties also include managing systems performance, reviewing and updating existing programs, identifying and fixing defects, supporting data architecture, generating reports, developing in-house software, and mitigating potential risk. Your expertise in the craft of programming will assist our organization in increasing efficiency and service through construction, maintenance, and streamlining of our computing systems and programs.
Employees in this classification function at a professional level, and are responsible for analyzing technical software applications and promoting optimal performance in systems development through use of state-of-the-art information technology. Provides continuous monitoring of work processes to ensure quality assurance/control and improvements to current processes and procedures where applicable.
The ideal candidate for this role must possess superior coding skills, excellent communication, high concentration levels, good task management, and superior problem solving and critical thinking skills. Essentially, the outstanding Computer Programmer must enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of systems, resolve errors, and design programs that are customized to our organization's needs.
High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate Degree with major course work in Management Information Systems, Computer Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred. Two (2) years knowledgeable and skilled experience in applications analysis and development, including coding, testing, debugging and maintaining various program languages and technologies; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
The start date for this position will be on or after January 1, 2025.
